Mystery: Gray Walker

Chapter 35 Three Women

Chapter 35 Three Women

Emily screamed and pounced on him without any regard for her image, scratching and pounding at Green's body with her hands.

"I didn't! I didn't! You're lying! You're slandering me! I'm going to tell Dad you bullied me!"

Caught off guard, Green was knocked back a step by her bump. He quickly reached out to block, but hesitated to use force for fear of hurting her. "Emily! Calm down! I'm doing this for your own good! Stop messing around!"

"For my own good? You'd love for me to get hurt! You treacherous little man! No, you shameless baboon! Let me go!" Emily cried out loudly, refusing to give in.

Just then, the door was suddenly pushed open.

"Emily! I won't let you hit my brother!" Sula's small figure rushed in. She had been asleep, but was awakened by the sudden noise from next door. After seeing the two struggling, she rushed towards Emily without thinking and tried her best to protect Green.

Almost simultaneously, hurried footsteps echoed down the stairs, followed by Aunt Sylvia's panicked voice: "What's wrong? What happened? Emily? Green?"

She appeared at the door, panting, and saw that the room was a mess.

The desk was in disarray. Emily, with her hair disheveled and tears streaming down her face, was hitting Green. Green was struggling to defend himself, while he was still tightly holding the furious Sura in his arms.

"Oh my god! Stop! Stop it!" Sylvia rushed forward, struggling to pull the distraught Emily away, and hugged her tightly. "Emily, what's wrong? Tell Mommy what happened?"

Emily nestled in her mother's arms, her body trembling violently, her cries changing from sharp to plaintive sobs.

She sobbed, but couldn't say anything.

What should I say? That Green suspects she's pregnant? And with that pharmacist? No, that's too shameful!

She could only bite her lip tightly, tears streaming down her face. She stammered, unable to utter a complete sentence for a long time, and finally cried even harder.

Sylvia patted her back with concern, then looked up at Green, who was also disheveled and looked helpless, her eyes filled with confusion and reproach: "Green, what... what's going on? What are you arguing about?"

Green opened his mouth, looking at the crying Emily, the anxious aunt, and Sura clutching his clothes with a worried expression, and felt a headache coming on.

What could he say? That he suspected Emily was pregnant out of wedlock? Without any evidence, and with Emily vehemently denying it?

Finally, he could only wearily wipe his face and say, avoiding the main point, "...It's nothing, Aunt. Just a misunderstanding. I...I said something that might have caused her to misunderstand. I'm sorry, Emily."

As he finished speaking, he looked at Emily, who was still sobbing, and his tone was complicated.

When Emily heard his apology, she paused in her sobbing, lifted her tear-filled face from her mother's arms, and glared at him fiercely, her eyes filled with anger and grievance.

Sylvia looked at her daughter, then at her nephew, and sighed.

She gently comforted Emily, "Alright, alright, don't cry, it's all a misunderstanding. It's so late, let's all get some rest, we can talk about it tomorrow."

She gestured for Green to take Sura away first.

Green nodded, then pulled Sula, who was still glaring angrily at Emily, along with him out of the room.

"Why are you here instead of sleeping?"

Green released Sula's hand, his tone reproachful, but his heart was warmed. He had to admit, having a sister who protected him like this was truly a blessing.

Sula tilted her head back. "I'm afraid Emily will bully you! She's always been mean to you!"

After saying that, she leaned closer to Green and asked in a low voice, "Brother... what did you do to her? Why was she so angry?"

Sula instantly transformed from a 'brother-protecting warrior' into a 'gossip vanguard'.

Green opened his mouth, trying to explain: "I...I just said something she might not like to hear, about...her, her recent..."

He tried to gloss over the question. But Sura was clearly not satisfied with the answer. She blinked and stared at Green, whose face was flushed and who looked slightly embarrassed. A bold guess was forming in her mind.

Sula gasped, pointing her little finger at Green, her voice low and filled with shock: "Brother! You...you can't be—!"

Green's heart skipped a beat; he had a bad feeling.

Sula punched him hard and said urgently, "Even though you're cousins, your uncle will definitely not agree! Besides, the teacher talked about heredity in class—"

Upon hearing this, Green nearly collapsed on the spot. He felt something rush to the top of his head, and his ears were ringing.

He quickly covered Sula's mouth to prevent her from saying anything more outrageous. If her aunt heard it, or if her uncle happened to come back, things would get really bad.

Green practically dragged Sula, who was twisting and contorting as she tried to "persuade" him with her eyes, back to her room.

As soon as he entered the room, he threw Sula onto the small bed.

Sula rolled halfway around on the bed, then scrambled to the far end, looking at him with surprise. She lowered her voice and emphasized, "I...I'm your own sister. You can't do this to me."

Green's face darkened instantly. He gritted his teeth and said, "If you don't learn anything good and keep thinking about this nonsense all day... I don't mind exercising my parental authority to discipline you properly."

After saying that, he ignored Sula's exaggerated expression, turned around and strode out of the room, slamming the door shut.

Sula was left alone in the room muttering to herself, "I was right... and she's still exercising her parental authority."

As Green walked toward his room, he scratched his head vigorously, feeling that the already chaotic situation had become an even bigger mess.

Before Emily's troubles could be sorted out, Sula gave him another "surprise".

It seems that my younger sister knows 'quite a bit', and her divergent thinking is in an extremely dangerous direction.

From now on, I not only need to keep a close eye on Emily, but also on Sula, to prevent her from being led astray by those messy novels or her classmates' nonsense.

He sighed deeply, "None of them are easy to deal with."

Then, Green dragged his weary steps and pushed open the door. He turned on the light.

Lock the door and turn off the lights!

In the darkness, his heart pounded, for there lay a person on his bed, one hand supporting his head, his curves undulating in the hazy light, a pair of eyes watching him with keen interest.

It's Lillian.

Green felt a chill run down his spine. What was going on today? Everything happened at once? Three women make a drama, and now they've even moved into his bed?

Just then, light footsteps sounded in the hallway outside his door, stopping just outside. Immediately afterwards, there was a knock, accompanied by Aunt Sylvia's hushed voice:

"Green? Is he asleep? Green?"

Green froze, holding his breath. He looked sharply at Lillian on the bed, who remained in that languid posture, even tilting her head slightly, a smirk playing on her lips, showing no intention of hiding or disappearing.

"Green?" Aunt's voice rang out again, tinged with worry.

Green took a deep breath to steady himself, and said wearily, "Auntie... I'm tired today, and my head hurts a little. I'll explain to you tomorrow, at breakfast tomorrow, okay?"

There was a few seconds of silence outside the door, then a sigh came from outside: "Sigh... alright. None of you kids give me any peace of mind. Get some rest."

Footsteps sounded again, gradually fading away until they disappeared in the direction of the stairs.

Green stayed close to the door until the footsteps completely disappeared before slowly exhaling. Then, he groped for the chair next to the desk in the darkness and sat down heavily.

The physical exhaustion and mental tension nearly caused him to collapse.

He looked up at Lillian on the bed, his tone tinged with annoyance and lingering fear: "When did you get here?"

Lillian chuckled softly, a look of detached pleasure on her part.

"I'm here early," she said slowly, even adjusting her posture to make herself more comfortable.

"From the moment your beautiful cousin pounced on you? Oh, maybe even earlier? Anyway, you've seen almost everything, both the things you should and shouldn't have seen."

Lily paused for a moment, then continued in a playful tone:

"How fascinating, Mr. Green. First, you suspect your cousin is pregnant, then your sister misunderstands you as having a deep-seated love affair and committing immoral acts... and finally, you have to try your best to maintain a respectable image in front of your husband. Tsk, the drama of ordinary family life is much more exciting than what's shown in the theater."

Green's face flushed instantly; he felt extremely embarrassed and angry.

His most embarrassing, private, and inexplicable family conflict was witnessed entirely by this woman. This feeling was ten times worse than being beaten by Emily or misunderstood by Sula.

"You..." He was so angry that he was speechless for a moment.

"What about me?" Lillian sat up, looking indifferent. "Don't worry, I have no interest in your family feuds. Compared to those real nobles, you lot are a joke."

"I didn't come here tonight to see a show."
