Chapter 7 Qin Wei
Chapter 7 Qin Wei
A young girl opened the door for Chen Yuan.
She was about sixteen or seventeen years old, still a high school student. She had a pretty face, a tall figure, fair skin, and exuded youthful vitality.
However, her eyes held a hint of impatience, her brows furrowed, as if someone owed her money.
Memories from the past resurfaced, allowing Chen Yuan to recognize the young woman as Qin Zhan's daughter, Qin Wei.
What caught Chen Yuan off guard was that among the memories that surfaced in his mind, besides some information about the girl, there was also a trace of a long-hidden emotion.
Chen Yuan's expression was strange. The memories that suddenly flooded his mind made him realize that something was wrong. After digesting these memories, he was even more impressed.
In Chen Yuan's view, his predecessor's personality was extremely twisted. He liked someone but didn't dare to pursue them. He would follow them around every day, hoping that they would discover his feelings. As a result, he praised them higher and higher and imagined himself to be more and more humble.
"Isn't this just pure simp?" Chen Yuan couldn't help but think to himself. "No wonder I always felt that my predecessor was a little inferior when facing Qin Zhan. Now the mystery is solved."
Chen Yuan was extremely grateful that the memories of his predecessor could not affect him; otherwise, if he were in his predecessor's body, he probably would have been unable to resist rushing up to Qin Wei to offer her comfort and care.
But Chen Yuan himself was absolutely unwilling to fawn over others, and secretly decided to stay away from Qin Wei in the future to avoid getting into trouble.
On the other side, Qin Wei saw Chen Yuan standing at the door in a daze. Remembering her father's previous instructions, her face immediately turned cold: "Why are you so late? You're here but you're not even coming in."
Qin Wei's indifferent tone actually relieved Chen Yuan. He just smiled, apologized, and walked straight past Qin Wei into the house without explaining anything.
The restaurant table was already laden with various delicacies. Qin Zhan was serving the dishes when he saw Chen Yuan and quickly greeted him, "Xiao Yuan is here! Sit down quickly, we'll start eating right away."
Chen Yuan smiled and agreed, then walked to the dining table and sat down.
Qin Wei followed Chen Yuan in. Looking at Chen Yuan's back, she felt something was very strange.
Based on Qin Wei's past experience, Chen Yuan should immediately come over and fawn over her after seeing her, saying some boring and tedious things.
Although this behavior only annoyed Qin Wei, it cannot be denied that she was secretly proud of her charm because of it.
Seeing that Chen Yuanzhen was completely ignoring her, Qin Wei felt a strange sense of unease.
Qin Zhan, however, did not notice the subtle atmosphere between his daughter and Chen Yuan. Ever since Qin Wei grew up, he had been thinking about bringing his daughter and Chen Yuan together. After all, in this day and age, the age of marriage is getting younger and younger. Many people start dating in high school and get married after graduation.
In Qin Zhan's eyes, Chen Yuan was exceptionally eligible: clean-cut appearance, good aptitude, and martial arts skills sufficient to support a family, not to mention he owned a detached villa. From an outsider's perspective, Chen Yuan was a quintessential "tall, rich, and handsome" man.
Moreover, Chen Yuan has always treated Weiwei well. He knows how to care for people and is considerate and thoughtful. By all accounts, he is an ideal match.
So before he called Chen Yuan, he had already instructed Qin Wei to hint at his desire to bring the two together.
He didn't pay attention to Qin Wei's thoughts. In Qin Zhan's opinion, the two had grown up together since childhood and were childhood sweethearts, so Qin Wei shouldn't be resistant.
However, what Qin Zhan didn't know was that because Chen Yuan had been too obsequious before, it backfired, causing Qin Wei to subconsciously despise Chen Yuan. Then, when she heard her father wanting to arrange for her to marry someone she didn't approve of, her sense of rejection intensified.
Even though Qin Wei sensed that Chen Yuan was a little different today, the previous hints were too strong, causing her to ignore the difference in Chen Yuan and eat silently with a cold face throughout the meal.
Chen Yuan was happy to have some free time, casually responding to the topics Qin Zhan threw out while eating.
Thus, a strange dinner party ensued: both parties remained silent, while Qin Zhan awkwardly engaged in conversation throughout.
It wasn't until the middle of the banquet that Qin Zhan finally noticed something strange: he and Chen Yuan were the only ones chatting the whole time, while the other main character at the table remained silent.
Qin Zhan gently kicked Qin Wei with his foot, and when she looked over, he gave her a subtle signal to speak.
Qin Wei frowned slightly, then relaxed, and suddenly smiled, saying, "Chen Yuan, I heard you were hit by a wild boar in the wilderness and ended up in the hospital?"
Upon hearing this, before Chen Yuan could say anything, Qin Zhan's face immediately darkened. He glanced at Qin Wei, seemingly finally understanding his daughter's thoughts.
Upon hearing this, Chen Yuan raised an eyebrow and nodded: "That's true."
Qin Wei let out a long "Oh," and then said, "You should be an intermediate warrior by now, so how come you can't even beat a low-level beast soldier?"
Upon hearing this, Qin Zhan's expression darkened further, but out of consideration for his daughter, he refrained from speaking.
"He's a mid-level warrior." Chen Yuan smiled faintly, showing no embarrassment whatsoever. Instead, he said self-deprecatingly, "I'm new to the game and don't have much practical experience, which is why I was taken advantage of. You should take this as a warning."
Chen Yuan's self-deprecating remarks left Qin Wei speechless, as if continuing to dwell on the matter would only make her look bad.
So he could only mumble a "hmm," and after a long silence, he brought up another matter: "I'm about to become a senior student at the Extreme Martial Arts Academy."
Her tone carried a hint of pride, because all three people present understood that once they became advanced students, they would receive a portion of Purple Dew from the martial arts school.
This means that Qin Wei, who is only 17 years old this year, will soon become a formal martial artist after drinking the Purple Light Dew.
Chen Yuan naturally knew the significance of a 17-year-old martial artist, and he didn't hold back his praise: "Impressive! Becoming a martial artist at 17, it wouldn't be difficult for you to become a war god in the future."
Seeing Chen Yuan's detached expression, Qin Wei felt even more annoyed. She said seriously, "The martial arts school has already talked to me. As long as I can break through within a month, they can sign a 'top-tier training' contract with me, and there will also be a ten million yuan start-up fund."
Chen Yuan nodded repeatedly as he listened, "Impressive."
"You!" Seeing that Chen Yuan was still unmoved, Qin Wei became inexplicably angry and subconsciously stood up, wanting to say something.
"Snapped!"
The bowl slammed against the table with a loud thud, interrupting Qin Wei's words.
Qin Zhan put down his bowl, his face darkening as he looked at his daughter: "Sit down. What kind of behavior is this?"
Qin Wei bit her lip, staring silently at her father. After a moment, she pushed the bowl away and said, "I'm full."
After saying that, he turned and left.
Qin Zhan watched his daughter's departing figure with a complex expression. After calming himself down, he forced a smile and said to Chen Yuan, "This girl is spoiled. Don't mind her."
Chen Yuan waved his hand: "It's nothing, it's nothing. I didn't see anything today."
"Sigh, what a mess this is." Qin Zhan sighed as well. He really couldn't understand why Xiao Wei couldn't stand such a good kid as Chen Yuan.
Qin Zhan had originally intended to bring the two together, but now, with Qin Wei both mocking and boasting, Chen Yuan surprisingly didn't lose his temper on the spot, which Qin Zhan found unbelievable.
This made Qin Zhan even more regretful; he had such a good character, yet such a good son-in-law was forcibly pushed away.
The dinner table quickly fell silent as the two ate in silence. However, Qin Zhan was preoccupied and couldn't taste anything in his mouth, while Chen Yuan was focused on the delicious food in front of him.
After a while, Chen Yuan stood up and thanked Qin Zhan: "I'm full, thank you for your hospitality, Uncle Qin."
"Sigh, I'm sorry for what I did to you today." Qin Zhan felt somewhat ashamed and was still apologizing to Chen Yuan on behalf of Qin Wei.
"It's nothing, I didn't take it to heart at all." Chen Yuan waved his hands repeatedly. "Uncle Qin, I'm going back now, no need to see me off, really no need..."
Qin Zhan insisted on seeing Chen Yuan to the door, and only after Chen Yuan's figure disappeared at the intersection did he sigh and close the door.
On the other hand, Chen Yuan really didn't take Qin Wei's matter seriously, whether it was Qin Wei mocking him for not being able to beat the Iron-haired Wild Boar, or her showing off to him about the basic training camp.
There's a saying that goes, "If you're weak enough, even your anger is adorable."
Although Chen Yuan is not powerful now, his vision is unmatched on the entire planet.
What Qin Wei said to him only reminded Chen Yuan of a story: an owl, after catching a rotten rat, boasted to a phoenix flying overhead: "Have you ever eaten such delicious food?"
When the phoenix approached, it glared at it and made threatening noises, as if afraid that the phoenix would try to steal its food.
Chen Yuan was the same; his gaze was only on the stars and the vast universe, rather than confining himself to a small planet and competing with owls for mice.
Therefore, after Chen Yuan left the Qin family, he had already put the previous matter behind him.
"I've wasted a lot of time, I'll have to train really hard tonight," Chen Yuan thought to himself, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.
