Chapter 244 242: Flower Teleportation
Chapter 244 242: Flower Teleportation
"Have you heard of Miss Hina?"
Recently, this phrase has become the hottest topic in Hanamizaka. Even more surprising was the group responsible for its popularity—Hanamizaka's most notorious group of loafers, the Arataki Gang.
They held stacks of flyers, handing them out to anyone they saw while relentlessly promoting this "Miss Hina."
At first, the people of Hanamizaka assumed it was just another one of the gang's pranks. But when passersby walked past the Yae Publishing House, they actually saw the posters for Miss Hina displayed officially.
Have you heard of Miss Hina?
If you have troubles, worries, or secrets, you can write a letter to Miss Hina.
She will keep your soul from straying.
She will liberate you from your sins.
She will bring salvation to your heart.
She will give you the perfect answer.
Miss Hina: Your best soul sister.
Note: Due to time constraints, Miss Hina can only accept 100 letters per week on a first-come, first-served basis! Miss Hina will also select interesting questions to be published anonymously in our Q&A column.
Initially, everyone treated it as a joke. After all, who would pour their heart out to a complete stranger? Moreover, there was the risk of being published. Even if it was anonymous, the fear of "social death" was very real.
However, there were always those who loved a bit of drama, and a few people did try to reach out to Miss Hina. Still, the numbers didn't quite reach Bai Luo's expectations.
"Only thirty-something letters," Bai Luo said, sounding slightly disappointed as he looked at the mail in a private booth at Uyuu Restaurant. He had expected more.
"And out of those thirty, some of them cannot be sent to the Resistance," Yae Miko added, casually eating fried tofu while opening the letters one by one. She found the contents quite entertaining; some stories were more bizarre than anything the Yae Publishing House's light novel authors could come up with.
After weeding out the letters that contained sensitive secrets, Yae Miko strategically inserted some information related to the Shogunate Army. These details were true, but they were minor and inconsequential—harmless even if they were leaked. She knew that to keep the "Dog General" playing the role of Miss Hina, they had to give him some "sweetness" as an incentive.
However, she couldn't help but admire Bai Luo's methods. When he had mentioned the "limited-edition Oni Kabuto" and the "TCG gift sets," she had been confused. They hadn't prepared any of those prizes. If Arataki Itto didn't get what he was promised, wouldn't it backfire?
As it turned out, Bai Luo was a master of word play.
Possible... chance... random...
Bai Luo never actually guaranteed anyone would get those items. Therefore, when Itto failed to win anything, he would simply blame his bad luck rather than suspecting he was being scammed. In fact, Itto had even eagerly asked when the next event would be held.
Upon hearing that distributing flyers would earn them "exquisite gifts," the Arataki Gang hadn't even stopped to ask what the gifts were before excitedly running off to work.
One could only imagine the looks on their faces when they eventually realized the "exquisite gifts" were just coupons for free Fox Udon.
"Let's send this batch over first. Things should pick up after that," Yae Miko said, bundling the letters and handing them to Bai Luo.
She was curious to see how he would deliver them to the Resistance. With the Shogunate guards blocking the way, he couldn't exactly just walk across—unless he could fly.
Speaking of flying... when Bai Luo first left Inazuma, he had seemingly vanished into thin air. Miko had spent a long time investigating the spot where he disappeared but never figured out his method. Would he use that same trick again?
"Wait for my good news."
Bai Luo didn't overthink it. He took the stack of letters, downed his tea, and hurried out of Uyuu Restaurant. The way the owner looked at him on his way out made him feel a bit uneasy, though.
Why did both the pink fox and the restaurant owner look at him like he was some kind of "scumbag"? He hadn't cheated on anyone!
After leaving Inazuma City, Bai Luo didn't head toward Ritou as Miko expected. Instead, he went toward Amakane Island. While Amakane was famous for its festivals, it was also the closest point to Kannazuka. Furthermore, it held the only ferry crossing to Kannazuka outside of Ritou and Inazuma City.
However, Bai Luo didn't go to the ferry. Instead, he shooed away a fox sunbathing on the beach and began to sense a "marker" on the other side of the sea. Once he felt it, a faint light shimmered around him, and he vanished instantly.
The fox he had shooed away sat in the bushes, having seen the entire process clearly.
A few minutes later, Yae Miko arrived at the spot where Bai Luo had been standing, holding a stick of Tricolor Dango. The sea breeze blew, and blades of grass brushed playfully against her ankles, swaying alongside small flowers that emitted a faint blue glow.
Coincidentally or not, the color of these flowers was very similar to the light Bai Luo had emitted when he disappeared. Or perhaps... he had used the power within these flowers to complete his long-distance transport.
"So that's how it is?"
She remembered that the last time Bai Luo left Inazuma, there had been similar flowers where he stood. While she didn't know the exact mechanism, it clearly had something to do with them. It seemed confirmed: Bai Luo's abilities were indeed tied to the Dendro element.
I'll have to keep an eye on that.
Discovering one of Bai Luo's "great secrets" put Yae Miko in a significantly better mood. She was only slightly uncertain if Bai Luo had noticed her presence there.
If Bai Luo knew what she was thinking, his expression would be very strange. Teleporting via flowers? Only this fox would come up with that.
He chose Amakane Island simply because it was close to Kannazuka, which saved him time while using his "Quantization" skill.
As for the flowers... it was purely a coincidence. He just happened to stop there because he could finally sense his target on the other side. He was too lazy to walk any further.
Even if he knew her theory, he wouldn't bother correcting her. False information could be a powerful tool at a critical moment. If the pink fox ever tried to trap him, thinking he couldn't teleport without those blue flowers, he could give her a very big surprise.
Just thinking about it was exciting.
